August 9, 2003 The Golden State Soccer League Games Committee has approved GOLD and SILVER DIVISIONS for 221 teams in the inaugural season of GSSL starting September 6 in U12 through U19 age groups. "We are very pleased with the response to this brand new league. We hope to provide the proper competitive environment for all the teams, regardless of age group or division. Our goal from the start was to come up with appropriate competition for all our teams. The response to this first-year league has been marvelous and we expect the play on the field will match the enthusiasm among the participants," said GSSL co-administrators Brian Leonard and Sherry Fry. "We want to publicly thank our four Division Administrators for the hours they spent analyzing all the applications to setup up the best possible Division alignments. The 22 home leagues from District 3 and 4 are all participants on the GSSL Games Committee and have come to a consensus for the initial Divisions in 2003 after 6 hours of meetings. "We are now closer to experiencing the real reason for GSSL--the opportunity for over 3500 players to take part in an excellent soccer experience beginning September 6," the administrators added.
