HISTORY

 

This league was formed in 2003 by CYSA District 3 and District 4 to combine their district leagues to create diversity, interest, more balance in each age group and a more competitive playing experience for its teams.

 

GSSL is a playing league structured to include multiple flights for Division 1 teams in U12 through U19 age groups. The flights will be balanced according to the competitive playing history of the teams. Each year, teams in the gold flight are subject to relegation to silver flight and vice versa in order to maintain a balance group of teams in each flight.

 

All U12 through U19 Division 1 teams registered in CYSA Districts 3 and 4 are eligible to play in GSSL by submitting an official application form. Teams from outside Districts 3 and 4 may apply but are required to obtain authorization from their home league and District Commissioner. All Division 1 teams in Districts 3 and 4 that apply are automatically accepted in GSSL and will be placed in one of the flights. All non-District 3 and 4 team applications received by the deadline will be considered for acceptance and, once accepted, GSSL will decide on the flight for each team.

 

Participating teams from Districts 3 and 4 will have representation from their respective home league on the GSSL Games Committee. Scheduling of games is the responsibility of the GSSL Competition Committee. Club representatives will be responsible for obtaining field assignments for their club's home games in compliance with the game schedules.

Fees for field use and referees are the responsibility of the hosting club on a game-by-game basis. Neutral center referees for U16 -U19 games will be assigned and paid by GSSL. Clubs will schedule referees for all their home games except the center referee for U16-U19 games.
